The Synergy Baku Cycling Project will end its 2017 season with the Tour of Almaty this coming weekend. The two-stage race in Kazakhstan is ranked UCI 1.1.

The team will be lead by Croatian rider Josip Rumac and by Elchin Asadov, who recently took part at the UCI World Championships for Azerbaijan in both the individual time trial and the road race. They will be supported by Elgun Alizada, Kanan Gahramanli, Samir Jabrayilov and Musa Mikayilzade. Elgun and Musa rode for Azerbaijan in the U-23 road race at the World Championships in Bergen. Samir makes his return to racing after breaking his collarbone at the Tour of Qinghai Lake.

“So our next and last race is the 2017 season tour of Almaty,” said DS Eldar Dzhabrailov. “This year the organizers of the Tour of Almaty added the second day of the race and completely changed the race, so we can consider it new and unpredictable. On the first day we will see who is feeling food, and from this we will build tactics on the second day of the race.

“Despite all the difficulties this year, I can say that we held it worthy, our guys fought at every race, showed high results and always tried to do it together by the team. I believe that the team spirit is born this way, when everyone helps each other and never leaves his colleague in trouble.”
