The Synergy Baku Cycling Project will race the Tour de Slovénie this week from June 15 to June 18. The Slovenian national tour consists of four stages, going from the coastal town of Koper to Kočevje on stage 1. The next day sees a loop around Ljubljana, while stage 3 is the queen stage with three climbs including the mountaintop finish at Rogla after a 13.7 km climb. The race traditionally finishes with a stage to Novo Mesto.

In the absence of Kirill Pozdnyakov who suffered a concussion in his training crash last weekend and is not yet fit to race, we will look to the young riders of the team to show themselves. The squad includes Croatian Josip Rumač and Azeris Elgun Alizada, Elchin Asadov, Enver Asanov, Kanan Gahramanli, Ismail Iliasov, Samir Jabrayilov, and Musa Mikayilzade.

DS Eldar Dzhabrailov says: “Very strong teams will take part in the Tour de Slovénie. For us, this is a great experience; it’s a great honour to perform in the same arena as the WorldTour teams, and it is any young rider’s dream to race against famous teams that they know from TV. It is an opportunity to show off in the breaks, as well as good preparation for the upcoming European Championships. Our elite riders who are also preparing for the European Championships get the opportunity to compete at the highest level of professional cycling. We go into the race optimistically and want to make a statement in the world of professional cycling with a good team result.”
