Josip Rumac and Elchin Asadov will lead a young Synergy Baku Cycling Project team in China at the Tour of Qinghai Lake, starting this weekend. The race covers 3631 km over 13 stages, from July 17-30.

Rumac won the Croatian national road title this year, as well as the mountain ranking in the Tour of Morocco. Asadov, Azerbaijan time trial champion, won a stage at the Tour of Morocco and was the team’s top finisher at the recent Minsk Cup.

They will be supported by Samir Jabrayilov, Elgun Alizada, Enver Asanov, and Ismail Iliasov.

“After the first half of the season we held an altitude training camp in Livigno to prepare for the Tour of Qinghai Lake and the European Championships,” said DS Eldar Dzhabrailov. “Our guys are ready to continue the fight for victories and top results. This is not the first time for them to start this race, and they know how difficult it is. They know about their past mistakes in this race, so they approach it this year with more responsibility and confidence in a good result.”
