This weekend, the Synergy Baku Cycling Project continues the 2018 racing season in Turkey where the riders are based for a team training camp that will be spiced with a number of UCI races, the first of which is the 1.2 Grand Prix Alanya.

The Grand Prix Alanya starts and finishes in the namesake city, going southeast along the coast on a 175-kilometre out-and-back course that includes three laps of a 3.5-km, 6.5-percent climb above the village of Kahyalar. After the last ascent, 32 kilometres remain to the finish in Alanya.

With experienced riders Elchin Asadov, Oleksandr Polivoda, and Kirill Pozdnyakov as well as Enver Asanov, Samir Jabrayilov, and Elgun Alizada, the riders who raced the Sharjah Tour will also race in Alanya. Musa Mikayilzade is added to the line-up as the seventh rider.

“We continue our training in Turkey where we will participate in a series of Turkish races starting with the Grand Prix Alanya,” says sports director Eldar Dzhabrailov. “The squad from the Sharjah Tour will be strengthened by young Musa Mikayilzade for whom it is the first race of the season. There will be a large peloton with 25 teams, so the race will be hard and unpredictable. We believe that we are one of the strongest teams in the race, so we will try to win!”
